So I just read The Hunger Games. After finding out about the movie I decided to read the book and It´s absolutely intriguing. Every step you take, every move you make, even before the Game start,optimality decides what is to come of you when the game actually does begin.

The book revolves around Katniss Everdeen, a 16 year old girl, living in the near future where North America no longer exists and in it´s place is a country call Panema, which is divided into 13 Districts. But after a rebellion the 13th district was demolished into nothingness, a message sent by the Capital, so that another rebellion never occurs again.

Katniss Lives in the 12th District which is known for there coal mines. So her family doesn´t starve a hunger, she hunts in a Forest that surrounds the border section of their district. With Gale, a boy she met in the woods. They hunt together to feed their family

Once every year, since the rebellion, the Capital hosts The Hunger Games. Which is a reality TV show, in which two teens, a boy and girl, from the ages 12 - 18 are taken from each District and placed into computerized habitat and are forced to kill one another, literally killing to save their own lives, and the last one standing wins.

In this year´s ceremony in which each tribute is chosen, the first name to be called out is Primrose Everdeen, Katniss´s sister. And so to save her sister´s life, Katniss volunteers to switch places. The Boy who was chosen is Peeta Mellark, a boy who once saved her and her family from starvation when they where children and gave her 2 loaves of bread from his parents bakery.

This Book really puts in prospective what anyone of us could do if we were put in their position, to take another life to save their own.

The character Katniss in simplest terms is very much so the leader of her family, feeding her mother and sister from the animals she catches with her bow and arrow. She protects them anyway possible. Her relationship with her mother is close to non existent, though she loves her,she could never forgive her mother after piratically abandoning her own children after Katniss´s father died in a mine explosion. Though this character is very loyal and brave she can be extremely ignorant, especially with her relationship with both Gale and Peeta. To me it´s as if she doesn´t want to let her self fall for any of them, she holds back what she actually feels because it simple doesn´t matter, not in her mind anyways. The only thing that matters to her is surviving, both in District 12 and in the Games.This character is relate able but not over used which is very refreshing.

All in all this an a great book, fast paced, but with actual plot and logic. I recommend this book to anyone who likes action and drama along with a dash of Sci-Fi and thriller.
